Whatever the purpose of a photograph, I believe that portraits should reflect the personalities of the people in them.

Having your picture taken in a studio can be impersonal and the unfamiliar environment can increase the worry of an already potentially stressful situation.  This is why I prefer to photograph my subjects in their own chosen locations, ie your home, garden, favourite park or beach, or anywhere else that is important to you.  I encourage you to incorporate favourite clothes, possessions, even furniture, into your portrait session to produce photographs that are special to you.  I also encourage clients to bring their own creative ideas to the session, and am happy to listen to and incorporate these ideas as the shoot progresses.

For modern, clean, studio - style portraits I have a white background and portable lights which I will bring to you in the comfort of your own home, whilst environmental portraits use mainly the available light and the immediate surroundings as a background  for a softer and more natural appearance.  Environmental portraits can be a great way to add another dimension to your pictures, for example the beautiful reds and golds of autumn leaves show the time of year the photograph was taken.

Even company headshots need not be boring - a plain background can be provided if required, but I also offer the option to include your work or personal environment for a more natural and interesting image.
